- Biography
MEARSY is the brainchild of Chris Mears, the Olympic champion turned wizard producer. Fusing together his passion for house, his love for indie and his unique productions, MEARSY has a sound all of its own. Expect house rhythms, huge hooks and a stereo journey to a galaxy far, far away. Before life as a music producer, Chris could be found on a diving board. An impressive career that culminated in him becoming Britain’s first Olympic diving champion, winning the gold medal at Rio 2016. Listening to Deadmau5 between dives, music was always on the brain for Chris – so after a record-breaking run with team GB and an MBE, Chris retired from the pool and transitioned into a completely new career. After immersing himself in the studio, Chris’ first major break came with producing the gold certified, top 5 radio hit ‘No Therapy’ for German superstar Felix Jaehn, amassing 90 million streams on Spotify alone. Since then, he’s written and produced for some of the world’s top talent; Including Meduza, Vintage Culture, Elley Duhé, the Vamps and Steve Aoki to name a few. Chris’ ability to absorb inspiration from multiple genres has not only cemented him as a go-to producer and songwriter in the dance community, it has also organically developed into this exciting new artist project. MEARSY draws inspiration from the dance greats including Calvin Harris, Avicci, Diplo and Vintage Culture but fuses it with indie staples like Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines, Gorillaz and The Wombats. Co-written across the board with the incredible Jon Eyden (guitarist and lyrical mastermind) , this potent cocktail of house inspired beats, infectious guitar hooks and indie pop toplines has pushed the project into unexplored and exciting places.
