Leony is one of Germany’s most in-demand artists –her “Faded Love” single topped the official airplay charts for eight weeks. Remedy, the follow-up, repeated the trick – #1 on the airplay chart as the most played song in Germany and already Top 5 onthe official charts.She already has a #1 chart single to her name thanks to “Raindrops”, a collaboration with Katja Krasavice. Across her various releases, Leony hasbroken through the 500 million streams barrier worldwide and has worked with such famous names asAlan Walker, Sam Feldt, Dimitri Vegas, Steve Aoki, Pascal Letoublon, VIZE, Capital Bra and many more.
Leonie Burgerwas born on 25th June 1997 and grew up in a small village in Bavaria together with her two older brothers and parents.She developed her interest in music at a young age and took piano and guitar lessons. This was followed by performances at auditions of the music school. It soon became clear to Leony that her greatest dream was to perform her own songs on the world’s biggest stagesas shepursuedher passion for music.
But how do you get there when you live in a village with less than 2000 inhabitants?
Growing up at a time when technology was developing faster than ever, she began – at the young age of 14-uploading cover versions of her favourite songs to YouTube. As the videos quickly became popular,she and her two friends were contacted by a talent scout for a German casting show that was to be broadcast on RTL (television).
The “Rising Star” show gave Leony her first insights into the music industry – and the trio ultimately emerged as winners, underlining Leony’s vocal talents even more emphatically. But big success somehow eluded the trio.
Having successfully graduated from high school in 2015, Leony immediately flew to Stockholm to participate in her first songwriting sessions. She would spend most of her time over the next two years in Sweden writing her own songs.
And then another door opened… she signed her first record deal with Sony Australia, flew “down under” and worked on her first two singles “Surrender” and “Boots”. Video and photo shoots, promotional activities and the like alladded up to an exciting new experience for the then 19-year-old.
Many more songwriting sessions around the globe followed: from Stockholm to London, from Norway to Los Angeles. Finally, fate took her to Berlin, where Leony met Vitali Zestovskih at the beginning of 2019. Everything was about to change as a result.
The two quickly discovered that their musicalideas were similar –indeed, they got on like a house on fire. A short time later she moved to Berlin and released her first solo single on Kontor Records. Vitali became her new manager, co-writer and producer. As one of the hottest German producers, he knew how to frame her voice and get the very bestout of Leony. They ended up sitting in the studio together every day, writing and producing songs -and they still do so now.
“Faded Love” –Leony’s solo single -achieved gold status in Germany in 2021. “Far Away From Home” (with Sam Feldt and VIZE) and “Paradise” (with VIZE & Joker Bra) also struck gold.
Leony is not only a huge success in her own right, she also shines as a songwriter for other artists. For example, she co-wrote the megahit “Never Let Me Down” for VIZE & Tom Gregory. The song received gold and platinum awards in Germany, Canada, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. She also had a hand in the VIZE & Tokio Hotel single “White Lies”… also a gold record.
Leony sums it up like this: “It’s the most beautiful thing to be allowed to make music every day with your best friends and the biggest privilege for me to be able to do what I love the most every day.”
